Jean Martin - Chair

Jean Martin is the Head of the Santos Foundation in PNG and has close to 20 years experience working on development programs in Papua New Guinea and Australian First Nations’ communities.

Jean specialises in developing and implementing public health, gender, social inclusion, education and economic opportunities programs in complex settings. Jean has used her experience and skills to support the private sector, governments, development agencies and non-government partners.

Jean has a Masters in International Public Health and has been with the Santos Foundation (formerly the Oil Search Foundation and Oil Search for 12 years).

Jean is passionate about investing in programs that genuinely deliver sustainable outcomes particularly in advancing the engagement of women in all spheres of development.

 

Doreen Iga - Deputy Chair

Doreen has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the development sector in Papua New Guinea working with civil society organisations, including seven years with direct responsibility for DFAT’s civil society and sub-national governance support and two years as the Papua New Guinea Country Manager for the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR).

Doreen is currently the Team Leader for the Building Community Engagement in Papua New Guinea (BCEP) program, DFAT’s main civil society investment in PNG.

 

Stephen Howes - Treasurer

Stephen is a Professor of Economics at the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University.

He is the Director of the ANU Development Policy Centre and Chair of Femili PNG, a PNG NGO that supports survivors of family and sexual violence in Papua New Guinea, and that is the operator for Bel Isi.

 

Mark T. Robinson

Mark T. Robinson was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BSP Financial Group Limited (BSP) in November 2022 and commenced work in March 2023.

Mark is a senior financial services executive and globally experienced banking Chief Executive Officer with more than 30 years’ experience across developed and emerging markets.

Before his appointment as BSP Group CEO, his roles included CEO of Commercial Bank International, a publicly listed bank based in the United Arab Emirates, Regional CEO of ANZ Banking Group’s operations for Southeast Asia. Prior to this, Mr. Robinson held numerous senior executive roles with Citibank, including in India, Russia, Turkey and Hungary.

Mark graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts and he also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

 

Vavine Mulina-Trusty

HR Manager - TotalEnergies

Vavine has been employed with TotalEnergies for the last 5 years, however, Vavine has over 15 years experience in the HR space.

Vavine is also studying, pursuing an MBA with Australian Institute of Business

 

Ruth Kissam

Ruth joined Steamships in May 2025 as the General Manager of Corporate Affairs. As a seasoned Community Organiser and Human Rights Activist with over 16 years of experience in the development sector she has led impactful campaigns across civil society and grassroots communities, working with a broad network of stakeholders in government, the private sector, and international development.

Most recently a Strategic Advisor with the United States Institute for Peace, Ruth has held multiple advisory and board-level roles, contributing her expertise in governance, human rights, corporate responsibility, and sustainability. Her leadership experience spans international NGOs and advocacy for marginalised groups.

An Obama Fellow at Columbia University and Draper Hills Fellow at Stanford, Ruth also studied Law at the University of Papua New Guinea. At Steamships, Ruth plays a key role in advancing community engagement, inclusive growth, and sustainable business practices as the company enters a new phase of strategic expansion.

Alicia Sahib

Alicia Sahib is Senior Operations Manager with BSP Financial Group Ltd in Papua New Guinea. A recipient of AusAID scholarship, Alicia attained a Bachelor of Building in Construction Management from the University of Technology, Sydney in Australia. Alicia has had industry practice in construction, resort development and banking with 20 years of experience in construction management, project management and operations management.

Education has been her pathway out of poverty, therefore Alicia has a strong sense of charity, channeling her efforts towards giving voice and support to the vulnerable, disadvantaged and underprivileged communities. She has been a trustee of Medical South Pacific in Fiji since its inception 14 years ago, and has established a not-for-profit organisation in 2021 in Papua New Guinea, in her personal capacity.

She drives active advocacy against gender-based violence, designs programs, raises funding and oversees implementation in partnership with other organisations for education, women’s empowerment and safe houses services for sorcery accusation related violence survivors. Alicia’s contribution to Bel isi PNG goes back to its inception, initiating the idea in 2013 which transformed into the Bel isi PNG program in partnership with other private sector partners, launching in 2018 and subsequent implementation of workplace policy in BSP in 2019 for provision of safe house and related services for its workforce. Originally from Fiji, Alicia has been living and working in PNG since 2011.

 

Pansy Taueni-Sialis

Pansy joined the organisation in early December 2025 as Executive Director, bringing an impressive and diverse track record of leadership across the resources and related sectors. In her previous role, she helped transform the PNG Chamber of Resources & Energy (PNG CORE) by expanding its membership and strengthening the value and impact of its services.

Her experience and expertise align with Bel isi PNG’s mission to prevent Family and Sexual Violence (FSV) and to support survivors.
